Police are searching for a suspect in the carjacking of an SUV with a five-month baby boy inside Tuesday morning.
The SUV, which was stolen in Southeast Washington about 7:30 a.m., was found within about an hour, and the baby has been reunited with his mother, police said. Details about the carjacking are slim.
According to police, the white 2007 Acura MDX SUV with Oklahoma tags was stolen in the 3800 block of Suitland Road near the border with Prince George’s County. Authorities said the thief was not armed when the car was stolen.
The Acura was found in the 4200 block of Rail Street in Capitol Heights — roughly a mile from where it was taken, according to authorities. Police sent K-9 teams to search that area, authorities said.
Information about the suspect was not immediately available, and it was not clear whether the suspect knew or was related to the baby or the driver of the Acura.
