Child abuse pleas for Va. parents after grandparents convicted

STAUNTON, Va. — A Stuarts Draft couple have pleaded guilty to child abuse stemming from their son’s grandparents making the boy sleep in an outside storage building.

Francis Yoho and Becky Yoho, both 34, were scheduled to stand trial Friday on felony child abuse charges. The News Leader reports that each pleaded guilty Thursday in Augusta County Circuit Court to misdemeanor child abuse.

Both received suspended sentences and were placed on probation.

A jury convicted the grandparents, 67-year-old Arthur Warren and his wife, 65-year-old Marcia Warren, on misdemeanor child abuse charges last week. They were each fined $2,500.

Prosecutors say the Warrens told the 9-year-old boy to sleep in the unheated building because he was a chronic bed wetter. He periodically lived with them last summer while his parents worked nights.
