The passenger arriving at Los Angeles International Airport claimed the 63 points of white powder in his carry-on luggage was a Chinese herb, but officials say it was something quite different: a substance used to make erectile dysfunction drugs.

The man, a 40-year-old Korean national, was stopped Jan. 6, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Officials say he was carrying $179,000 worth of the chemical tadalafil, the key ingredient in the drugs.

Authorities said the man didn’t have approval to bring the chemical into the country.
