D.C. officer charged in burglary sting

A D.C. police officer was arrested Saturday for allegedly taking part in a burglary that, unbeknownst to her, was part of a sting operation, authorities said.

Officer Jennifer Green, who joined the force two years ago and was assigned to the department's Fourth District station, was arrested about 9 p.m. in the 5500 block of Colorado Avenue NW, police said.

They said Green was "the target of a confidential criminal investigation" by the police internal affairs unit.

"Officer Green was an active participant in what she believed to be a burglary of a private residence," the department said Monday in a news release. "Following the successful conclusion of the operation, Officer Green was placed under arrest and charged with burglary and receiving stolen property."

Further details of the operation were not immediately available.
