D.C. police search for Capitol Hill bank robber

Washington police and the FBI are searching for a man authorities said robbed a bank Wednesday afternoon near Eastern Market, in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police said the man, wearing glasses and a New York Yankees baseball cap, walked into a branch of the PNC Bank in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Ave., S.E. about 2:45 p.m.

He demanded money from a teller and did not show a gun or weapon, according to a statment from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police released surveillance photographs of the man, who they described as black, standing about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds.

He has a medium complexion and a mustache, and was wearing what appeared to be prescription eye glasses, according to police. He also had a blue baseball cap, grey pants, a light blue shirt with a dark collar and a pocket on the left side, and dark colored shoes with white bottoms.

Anyone with information about this person is asked to call 911 or call police at 202-727-9099. Tipsters can also text the police tip line at 50411.
