D.C. police seek gray-haired bank robber with cane

An gray-haired man wearing large glasses and purple latex gloves and carrying a cane robbed a downtown Washington bank on Wednesday and escaped with an undetermined amount of money, according to D.C. police.

Authorities said the man, described as being in his 50s or older, walked into the SunTrust Bank in the 900 block of 17th St. NW about 12:50 p.m. and announced a robbery. He was not armed.

Police released a photo of the the man, who has a beard and a mustache and work a red ball cap with logo, a golden colored coat with a hood and a light-colored shirt. He also had on faded blue jeans.

Police said the man stands about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs between 180 and 190 pounds.

In one surveillance photo, he was holding a cane with his right hand and appeared to be clutching money with his left. Police did not say if he handed the teller a note.
