Deck collapses in Loudoun; 3 injured

At least three people were injured Sunday in the partial collapse of a deck at a house in Loudoun County, authorities said.

The three were taken for medical examination and treatment after the collapse, which occurred about 4:40 p.m. at a house in the 14300 block of Loyalty Road, near Leesburg, said Timothy Menzenwerth, a spokesman for the county’s fire and rescue service.

He said none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.

The initial report of the collapse indicated that about two dozen people were on the deck when the portion farthest from the house appeared to swing downward towards the ground, he said.
