A pregnant woman was found stabbed to death in a vehicle in District Heights Friday night, and police have charged the father of her unborn child in the killing, authorities said.
Nathan Cedric Rogers, 22, of the 6900 block of Halleck Street in District Heights, has been charged with first-degree murder in the case.
Police were first tipped to the incident about 7 p.m. Friday, when someone in the 7100 block of Mason Street in District Heights reported that a “suspicious vehicle” had been parked in the area for some time, said Sgt. Sonya Rorls, a Prince George’s County police spokeswoman.
Investigators arrived and found Jasmine Nichelle Moss, 23, of the 4900 block of Maury Place, inside the vehicle, Rorls said. She had been stabbed
Rorls said Moss was pregnant; investigators did not know how far along she was.
Early Saturday morning, Rorls said, homicide detectives charged Rogers. She said Rogers and Moss were in a relationship, and the murder apparently stemmed from a domestic dispute between the two.
Investigators believe Rogers was the father of Moss’s unborn child, Rorls said. She said detectives were still probing precisely when Moss was slain.
Online court records show Rogers was convicted of first-degree assault last year and sentenced in July to 18 months in prison. Later that month, he was allowed to serve his sentence on home detention and was given four years of supervised probation, court records show.
