District police search for man who groped woman

A woman walking near Georgetown Waterfront Park early Sunday reported being groped by a man who came up behind her, according to District police.

Authorities said the assault occurred about 4:10 a.m. in the 3200 block of Cherry Hill Lane NW, just north of the Whitehurst Freeway. The woman told police the man ran away after touching her.

Police described the man as a white or Hispanic male with dark, straight shaggy hair standing between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall, with a slim build and dark eyes. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and khaki shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call District police at 202-727-9099, or text 50411 and a message to the department’s tip line.
