District police seek help finding men who attacked pedestrian at bus stop

Police in Washington are trying to identify several people who they said robbed and assaulted a pedestrian last month at a bus stop one block north of the Gallery Place Metro station.

Authorities have posted a surveillance video to YouTube showing the moments just prior to and after the attack, which occurred about 3:20 a.m. on June 5 at 7th and H streets, N.W.

The video posted by police has a six-minute gap and does not show the attack. A spokeswoman with the Metropolitan Police Department could not say whether the camera failed to capture the robbery or whether police chose not show it.

A police statement described the incident as a “violent attack” but police could not describe the victim’s injuries, nor could they say what was taken.

The video also shows several men immediately after the attack standing on the north side of H Street, near 6th Street. It appears that two men are arguing, with a third man in a blue shirt separating them.

Police ask that anyone with information about the people in the tape call 202-727-9099 or text 50411.
