Donations for family of child killed in Va. crash

Many of you have contacted The Post asking how you can donate money to help the family of an 8-year-old who was killed in a crash Sunday.

Brian Hernandez-Chavez’s mother is still in the hospital with 14 fractures in her hips and legs. His father is trying to get here from Mexico for the funeral.

The Days Inn in Alexandria, where Brian’s mother and grandmother work as housekeepers, is setting up a bank account today that will accept donations on the family’s behalf.

As soon as it is set up, we’ll update this post and let you know how to donate.

I spoke with Brian’s grandmother, Maria Yanez, this morning by phone while she was visiting his mother, Maria Chavez, in the hospital. She was very grateful for the support and offers of help.
