Driver critical after collision with school bus in MoCo

A multi-vehicle crash in Montgomery County involving a school bus has sent the driver of one of the other vehicles to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police and rescue officials said Friday afternoon.

Six special-needs students were on the bus. They were taken to a hospital along with the bus driver and an aide to the driver for a checkup, but did not report any serious injuries, the police said.

Officers were called to the crash scene shortly after 1 p.m. It occurred along Clopper Road near Game Preserve Road in the Germantown-Gathersburg area, Officer Britta Thomas said.

Collision investigators had gone to the scene to begin to reconstruct what happened, Thomas said. She did immediately know the circumstances of the accident.

Officials closed down Clopper Road in the area as they investigated the crash.
