Elderly couple killed in Fairfax car crash

An elderly Falls Church couple died in a car crash near Seven Corners Sunday afternoon.

Harry E. Emlet Jr, 83, of S. Jefferson Street was turning left off of Arlington Blvd. near the intersection of Patrick Henry Drive, when his Nissan Sentra was struck by a pick-up truck, according to Fairfax County police.

Both he and his wife Elinor K. Emlet, 85, a passenger in the car, were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the pick-up trick, a 41-year old man from Rockville, was also taken to the hospital and treated for injuries. Police said Emlet turned left on a green light but did not yield to oncoming traffic. The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m.
