Elvans Road shooting victim fifth person slain in Washington since Wednesday

D.C. police are investigating the death of a Maryland man who was shot and killed Friday night in Southeast Washington, the fifth person slain in the District since Wednesday.

Police were called to the 2700 block of Elvans Road SE, a cul-de-sac just north of the Suitland Parkway, shortly after 8 p.m. and found William Parker, 45, suffering from gunshot sounds. Parker was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police said he lived in the 1400 block of Elkwood Lane in Capitol Heights, Maryland, which is just outside the District’s northeast border.

D.C. homicide detectives have been trying to piece together what happened in several fatal shootings this week that began late Wednesday and early Thursday. Woodson High school basketball player Ra-Heem Jackson was killed Thursday night.
