Ex-pastor gets 4 years for molesting 10-year-old girl in Montgomery County

A former pastor of a Montgomery County church was sentenced Wednesday to four years in jail, the Associated Press reports.

Joe Ivey, 74, pleaded guilty last month to a second-degree sex offense. The former senior pastor of the Barnesville Baptist Church allegedly abused the girl in February 2010 at his home in Walkersville.

Ivey was sentenced to four years in prison, with another 16 years suspended.

He is also required to register as a sex offender and will be on probation for five years after his release.

Ivey will have to undergo a psychosexual evaluation and could be required to get additional treatment, the Maryland state’s attorney said.
