Fairfax County’s top prosecutor has cleared two Fairfax County police officers of any wrongdoing in two separate shootings that occurred in May, police announced Monday.
No charges will be filed against PFC J. Kevin Clarke, after he shot and killed a man wielding a sword inside a Springfield apartment on May 19, Commonwealth’s Attorney Ray Morrogh told police. Police said the man had threatened officers with the sword.
PFC Stephen Copp will not be prosecuted following the shooting of a man in the Mount Vernon area. Police said Stephen P. Collier threatened officers with a knife as they tried to arrest him. Collier was treated for his wounds and has been charged with destruction of property and assault on a law enforcement officer.
