Fairfax man charged with taking indecent liberties with a teen

On Sept. 22, Fairfax County police charged Lee Betton, 62, with taking indecent liberties with a child.
A 62-year-old man is charged with “taking indecent liberties” with a teenager in his care, Fairfax County police said.

Police released few details about the allegation against Lee Betton, of the 5200 block of Leeward Lane in the Franconia area of Fairfax County.

Betton was charged Sept. 22 with taking indecent liberties with a child, after the victim — now 22 and residing out of state — reported the allegation to police.

The alleged incident took place five years ago, when the victim was 17, police said.

At the time, Betton was an employee of the county’s Department of Neighborhood and Community Services, overseeing technology programming at various county facilities.

Police said the alleged criminal acts associated with the charge against Betton did not occur at county facilities.

The victim’s gender and other identifying information were not released by police.
