Fatal wreck in Pr. William brings no charges

A pedestrian who was struck by a car near Manassas more than a week ago has succumbed to his injuries and died, Prince William County police said in a news release Wednesday.

Richard Earl Hunter, 60, of no fixed address, was crossing the street near the 8000 block of Centreville Road on March 9 around 6:50 p.m. He was struck by a 2002 Hyundai Elantra and flown to an area hospital. Hunter died Saturday, police said.

Hunter was intoxicated and had been walking across the street outside the crosswalk, police said. The Elantra’s driver, who was not injured in the crash, was not to blame for the accident and has not been charged, according to the news release.
