An early morning fire destroyed a Capitol Heights home and left three people with minor injuries, Prince George’s County fire officials said.
The blaze engulfed the home in the 1400 block of Early Oaks Lane around 4:15 a.m., according to officials. Nine people escaped, but a man and a child suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital, according to authorities.
Authorities were investigating how the blaze started, but said the cause appeared to be “suspicious.”
Firefighters battled the blaze for over an hour before it was brought under control. In the process, a firefighter injured his hand and was later treated and released from a local hospital, fire officials said.
The one-and-a-half story, single-family home was a total loss, according to fire officials.
