A fire broke out at a church in Cheverly early Wednesday morning. Prince George’s County firefighters responded to an automated call from an alarm monitoring company and found heavy smoke coming from the two-story building.
Thirty firefighters were on the scene just before 4 a.m., according to a press release from Prince George’s County Fire and EMS. The building houses a parish of the Celestial Church of Christ.

The department estimates the fire caused about $250,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.
Officials are uncertain what caused the fire, but they are conducting an investigation, the release said.
