Four-year-old hit by car in Greenbelt

A four-year-old boy was hit by a car on a road running through a Greenbelt apartment complex Tuesday night, and he remained hospitalized Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The boy was struck by the car in the 6000 block of Breezewood Drive — a road that runs through the Franklin Park apartments — just before 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, said Officer Kelly Lawson, a spokeswoman for the Greenbelt Police Department. She said she did not know the severity of his injuries, but he was alive and in the hospital Wednesday morning.

Investigators are still probing the specific circumstances of the crash and trying to talk to witnesses, Lawson said. She said the car that hit the boy remained on the scene.

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, Lawson said.
