Gary Giordano, the Gaithersburg man jailed in connection with the disappearance of Robyn Gardner in Aruba, is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing Friday, WJLA reported.

Giordano has been detained in Aruba since he was arrested on Aug. 5, three days after telling police that Gardner, 35, of Frederick, drowned off the coast of the island.

Gardner’s body has not been found.

A decision on whether to release Giordano or further detain him is expected to be announced Friday.

His current 60-day detention order is set to expire on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the British newspaper Daily Mail and Fox News are reporting that a witness claims Gardner was buried alive.

This allegation, citing a National Enquirer report, is unconfirmed.
