Grand jury to hear U-Va. slaying case

A grand jury is scheduled to consider the case against a former University of Virginia lacrosse player accused of killing a member of the women’s team.

The Charlottesville grand jury is expected to review first-degree murder, robbery, burglary, statutory burglary and grand larceny charges against George Huguely when it meets Monday.

The panel will decide whether to indict the 23-year-old Huguely and allow the case to proceed to trial, which is considered likely.Huguely is accused in the May 3, 2010, death of 22-year-old lacrosse player Yeardley Love. He has remained in jail since his arrest.
