Guardian Angel injured in Metro brawl

A member of the volunteer anti-crime group Guardian Angels was injured on a Metro train Saturday night after he intervened in a disturbance that resulted in five arrests, the transit agency said.

Metro spokesman Steven Taubenkibel said the red-bereted crime-fighter was on patrol aboard a Green line train in the Anacostia station about 11:30 p.m. when he tried to stop a physical altercation involving several people. The Guardian Angel apparently was roughed up in the incident but not seriously hurt, Taubenkibel said.

He said police arrived and arrested three juveniles and two adults.
