Human remains found in Calvert County

Human remains were discovered in a wooded area in Calvert County. (Calvert County Police)
Police in Maryland are investigating a grisly discovery in Calvert County Friday: a human skull.

A man found the remains in a wooded area off of Tate Road in Prince Frederick, Md., and called police, who determined that the discovery was a human, not animal, skull.

Police said the area was searched extensively, but no other remains or additional evidence was found.

The skull was sent to the medical examiner’s office in Calvert County to be processed. Police said they do not yet know the identity of the person whose remains were found, or the cause of the person’s death,

Anyone with information about the case can call Det. Sarah Jernigan at 410-535-1600, ext. 2595.
