An intruder threw a Silver Spring woman to the floor of her kitchen and tried to rape her, the Montgomery County police said Monday.
They said the incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the 9400 block of Saybrook Avenue. The 56-year-old woman was in the kitchen when she heard a side door open. A man approached from behind, threw her to the floor and tried to remove her clothes.
After a struggle, the man fled out the side door, police said.
They said the intruder was described as Hispanic, 38 to 40 years old, 5 feet 6, and about 185 pounds. Police said he wore a gray, long-sleeved shirt and black jeans.
No information was available about any injury to the woman.
The neighborhood is about half a mile south of the Capital Beltway and west of University Boulevard.
