Man, 21, found shot in Northgate Park in Wheaton

A 21-year-old man was seriously injured in a shooting in Montgomery County Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to Northgate Park, in the 14100 block of Connecticut Avenue in Aspen Hill, around 4:25 p.m. for the report of a shooting.

They found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

No weapon was found at the scene but police said a possible suspect was seen in the area at the time of the incident.

The gunman is described as a black man, 5-feet, 7-inches tall, about 20 years old, and wearing a blue jacket. Police said they believe there is a relationship or some association between the shooter and the victim.

No additional details about the victim or the attacker are available, police said.
