Man arrested in fatal shooting in Northeast Washington

An 18-year-old District man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left another man dead Monday night, police said.

Anthony Hatton of Southeast D.C. has been charged with felony first degree murder in the slaying of 17-year-old Tyrell Fogle of Northeast D.C.

At approximately 10:34 p.m. Monday, District police on assignment in the 1900 block of Bennett Place NE heard the sound of gunfire. Officers saw Hatton, wearing a mask and holding a gun, shoot repeatedly at Fogle, who was shot multiple times before collapsing.

Officers chased Hatton and arrested him in the 700 block of 21st Street NE while D.C. Fire and EMS workers transported the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No information about a motive behind the shooting was available Tuesday.
