A 29-year-old man has been charged with arson, reckless endangerment and other offenses after a Thursday afternoon incident in which he allegedly dropped a lit Molotov cocktail into the food court at Ballston Common Mall in Arlington.

Police said Friday that Leon A. Traille Jr., of no fixed address, had been charged with reckless endangerment, attempted malicious bodily injury by use of fire and use of fire bomb.

Traille has also been charged with arson in federal court, authorities said.

He faces a minimum of five years in prison on the arson charge if convicted.

Hearings in the case were scheduled for Friday morning in an Arlington Court, authorities said, and Friday afternoon in Alexandria’s federal court.

Nobody was injured in the incident, authorities said Thursday. They said the bottle hit the floor and smashed, but did not explode despite the fuse being lit when it was dropped.
