A man was critically wounded Wednesday afternoon in the Southeast area of Capitol Hill, D.C. police said.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of K Street SE about 3:30 p.m. and found a wounded man conscious and breathing, said Officer Paul Metcalf. The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, Metcalf said.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate but it was not immediately clear what prompted the gunfire. Police officers examined a vehicle found several blocks from the scene, near 11th Street and South Carolina Avenue SE, which may be connected to the incident.
