A Reston man died Sunday from injuries he sustained in a car crash at the end of December in the McLean area, Fairfax County police said.
Frederick Naef, 76, was eastbound on Lee Highway near Old Lee Highway about 9:30 a.m. Dec. 26 when another driver heading in the opposite direction lost control of his vehicle, police said.
The Ford Ranger crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck Naef’s Ford Taurus and a GMC Yukon driven by a 41-year-old man, police said.
Naef was transported to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries, police said.
The driver of the Ranger, Carlos Rios, 42, of Fairfax, and the driver of the GMC Yukon were not injured in the crash.
Rios was charged with failing to maintain control of his vehicle, police said.
Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
