Man fatally shot in PG; unrelated shooting in District

A man was fatally shot Wednesday night outside of a Hillcrest Heights apartment building, Prince George’s County police said.

Officers found the victim after being called to the 3900 block of 23rd Parkway just after 7 p.m., said Cpl. Maria McKinney, a spokeswoman. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

In another shooting Wednesday night, a man was found shot in Northeast Washington. The incidents appeared to be unrelated.

D.C. police found the man in the area of 18th Street and Benning Road about 8 p.m. He had been shot more than once, said police spokesman Paul Metcalf. The victim was transported to a hospital with critical injuries.
