A 27-year-old man was shot and killed early Thursday morning in Southeast D.C., authorities said.
Officers were called to the scene near 18th Street and U Place SE just after midnight for reported gunfire. They arrived to find Lonnie Martin Whitted, of Southeast, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.
Police did not release any information about suspects or a motive in the case.
