A male was shot and critically wounded Thursday afternoon in Northeast Washington, D.C. police said.
Officers were called to the 5100 block of Jay Street for the report of shots fired around 4:30 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a police spokesman.
The victim was found unconscious and not breathing, Metcalf said.
Officials did not know the age or identity of the victim. Homicide detectives were called to the scene.
