Man sought in District Heights domestic slaying

Homicide detectives are searching for a man who stabbed a woman to death during a domestic dispute in District Heights early Tuesday, authorities said.

The incident occurred just after midnight at a home in the 6500 block of Gateway Boulevard, authorities said. District Heights Police Chief Michael March said a man and a woman who were in some type of relationship got into a dispute with each other, and the man stabbed the woman. The woman then stumbled outside and collapsed, and the man fled the scene, March said.

Police identified the victim as 37-year-old Maria Delmi Madrid-De Gomez and her attacker as 38-year-old Felipe Gomez. Prince George’s County police spokespeople said detectives had obtained a warrant charging him with second-degree murder in the case, though they are still working to locate him. He is believed to have lived in the house with Maria Gomez, police said.

March said he did not know precisely what the dispute was about. Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
