Md. man dies in Anne Arundel crash

A Glen Burnie man died in a Crofton crash early Sunday morning, Anne Arundel County police said.

A Ford Crown Victoria driven by Javaid Firdaus, 63, was heading north on Maryland Route 3 about 1:41 a.m. when it was hit by a Jeep Cherokee that was attempting a left turn onto Davidsonville Road, police said. Firdaus was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police.

The driver of the Jeep, a 19-year-old Millersville woman, has not been charged with a crime in the crash. But police said she did not have a valid license, was driving on a learner’s permit without legally required supervision and driving a relative’s vehicle without consent.

The driver and a passenger in the Jeep were treated for minor injuries, police said.

There is no evidence that drugs, alcohol or speed contributed to the crash, police said.
