A Bladensburg man who pled guilty to assaulting and robbing women he met on Craigslist was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison.
Edgar D. Romero, 26, was charged with four armed attacks on four different female victims.
He contacted numerous women through Craigslist’s “erotic services” postings, according to a press release. He met each of them separately at a D.C. hotel from December 2008 to February 2009.
In four instances, each with a different woman, Romero pulled out a knife or firearm and told the woman he would kill her if she did not cooperate.
Romero and his accomplices tied the victims up with cords or duct tape, then stole their money, credit cards, cell phones and laptops.
Romero sexually assaulted two of the four victims, the release said, and helped an accomplice assault a third. They left each woman with a final threat that they would track down and harm her if she told police.
A week after his meeting with the fourth victim, police arrested Romero, the release said. He pled guilty to sexual abuse while armed, first degree burglary and armed robbery.
According to the release, Romero will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
