Md. student killed crossing street near high school

A 15-year-old tenth-grader at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown died after she was hit by a car while crossing the street Wednesday morning accident, police said.

In a news release, Montgomery County police said Christina Morris-Ward of Germantown was trying to cross Route 118 at Wisteria Drive, not far from the school, when she was hit by a northbound Ford Fusion at 7:03 a.m.

Morris-Ward died in a hospital, police said.

The driver of the Fusion, a 27-year-old Germantown man, had a green light.

Details of the incident were not immediately available and police are continuing to investigate.
