Md. woman charged in fraud scheme

A woman arrested in connection with stealing a credit card from a woman’s purse at a popular Old Town Alexandria eatery is being investigated for possible connection to other cases, officials said Wednesday.

A woman noticed her wallet was stolen while she was at La Madeleine Bakery, 500 King Street, on Nov. 14, according to Alexandria police. Later that day, unauthorized charges showed up on her credit card.

Terri Bellamy, 41, of Prince Georges County, has been charged with two counts of credit card fraud, police said. Detectives are investigating whether Bellamy is involved in similar cases.

Police ask anyone with information about the case or Bellamy to contact Detective Orlando Santiago at 703-838-4766 or at Orlando.santiago@alexandriava.gov.
