Monday morning sex assault in Bethesda

A 24-year-old woman was the victim of a sex offense in Montgomery County Monday morning, authorities said.

Just before 6 a.m., the woman was running in a residential area along Old Georgetown Road between Kingswood Road and Lone Oak Drive in Bethesday when a man approached her and inappropriately grabbed her between the legs, said Officer Janelle Smith, a spokeswoman for Montgomery police.

The woman, who was uninjured, struggled with the man, but he ran when a vehicle came into view, Smith said.

Police described the suspect as a 5-foot-8 black man in his 30s. Roughly 150 pounds, he was wearing a cream-colored shirt, light-colored pants and a tan winter hat Monday morning, according to police.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 301-279-8000.
