Montgomery County woman killed in hit-and-run

A Montgomery County woman has died following a hit-and-run collision Tuesday night.

Marlyn Eres Ali was struck by an unidentified vehicle around 8:15 p.m.while walking across Connecticut Avenue near the intersection with Everton Street in the Wheaton area of the county, police said.

According to authorities, Ali was crossing Connecticut Avenue from east to west, near her home on Elby Street. She had crossed the northbound lanes safely but was struck by an oncoming vehicle in the southbound lanes. The driver of the car that struck Ali did not stop.

Ali was transported to Suburban Hospital, where she later died.

Police have not released information about the type of vehicle involved in the collision, but said it may have sustained front-end damage. Authorities also did not say whether Ali was in a crosswalk when she was struck.
