Murder conviction for man in Maryland dentist’s killing

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A man who was paid $1,000 by his cousin to kill a dentist she was stealing from has been convicted of first-degree felony murder.

Twenty-five-year-old Dante Jeter of Baltimore was also found guilty Monday by an Anne Arundel County jury of other offenses in connection with the slaying of 51-year-old Albert Ro in 2006. Jeter, who is serving a 60-year sentence for a 2008 murder, faces life without parole at sentencing on July 24.

Jeter’s cousin, 36-year-old Shontay Hickman of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in Ro’s killing and testified against him.

Hickman testified that she hired Jeter and two of his friends to kill Ro because she feared Ro had found out that she had been stealing insurance checks from his practice.
