Murder-suicide in Loudoun

A Loudoun County man fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies called to a home in the 800 block of South Birch Street about 6 a.m. found Mercedes Perry, 61, dead inside the home, authorities said. Her husband, Larry E. Perry, 64, was found dead outside the house near the detached garage.

Kraig Troxell, spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department, said investigators believe Larry Perry shot his wife and then himself.

Mercedes Perry’s elderly mother was found unharmed in the home, Troxell said, and is now with family. Authorities initially had said the woman in the home was Larry Perry’s mother.

Troxell said the murder-suicide appears to have been prompted by financial concerns and “serious health issues” that Mercedes Perry had.
