A New York woman was killed Monday morning in a crash in Severn, according to authorities.
Police responded to the area of Quarterfield Road south of Myers Drive at about 11:07 a.m. for reports of a crash. Their investigation determined that a van headed north on Quarterfield crossed the center line of the roadway, sideswiping a trash truck driving in the other direction, according to police.
The van ran off the road and struck a tree, police said. Police said the driver, 76-year old old Shirley Walker-Lloyd of West Islip, N.Y., was killed in the crash. She was not wearing a seatbelt, police said, and may have been suffering from a medical condition at the time of the incident.
Police continue to investigate.
