The thief, who police dubbed the office creeper, has struck at least seven times since June. The most recent report was on September 20 in the 8000 block of Arlington Boulevard, police said.

In that case, a man had placed his things in a cubby hole while receiving physical therapy, but when he returned his wallet was gone, police said.

Around the same time, the suspect was seen walking around checking vents, as if he was responding to a maintenance call, police said.

Investigators believe the same man may be linked to the other thefts, which occurred in the 8000 block of Arlington Boulevard and the 8000 block of Leesburg Pike.

The suspect is described as in his late 20s. He wore blue work pants, a blue shirt and a neon green traffic vest.

The stolen credit cards were used at gas stations in the D.C. area, police said.
