A pedestrian was struck by an SUV and killed while trying to cross a busy roadway in Dumfries on Sunday night, Prince William County police said.
The victim, 43-year-old Ken Lashay Wood, of no fixed address, wasn’t in a crosswalk when he was hit about 9:20 p.m.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway, the portion of U.S. Highway 1 that runs through Virginia, and Panther Pride Drive, police said.
Wood was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver, a 54-year-olf Fredericksburg woman, was not injured.
No charges have been filed, but the crash remains under investigation, police said.
