A 57-year-old woman was hit by a car and killed as she tried to cross the street near the New Carrollton Metro station, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 6:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of Garden City Drive, said Cpl. Henry Tippett, a Prince George’s County police spokesman. He said the woman was trying to cross the street outside of a crosswalk when she was hit by a Dodge Charger.
The driver of the Charger remained on the scene of the crash, and preliminary, police believe the woman was at fault, Tippett said. He said he could not identify her because officers are still trying to notify family of her death.
