Man, 32, shot dead in La Plata

A 32-year-old man was shot dead in La Plata on Wednesday evening, authorities said.

Police on patrol about 8:30 p.m. heard multiple gunshots, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. They later found Martin Hawkins of La Plata dead on Kent Avenue.

Police did not report a motive.
