A man was shot and wounded in Prince George’s County Sunday night during a confrontation with police, authorities said.
A county police spokesman said officers found the man bloodied about 10:20 p.m. in the 5000 block of Barnaby Lane after being sent there to investigate a report of a suspicious person.
When rescue personnel tried to administer aid, the man became combative, prompting a police officer to deploy a Taser, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, the police spokesman.
The Taser is an electrical device intended as a substitute for lethal force. However, the man was not subdued, and after threatening an officer, the man charged at him, and was shot, Johnson said.
. He said the wound was not believed to be life-threatening.
Johnson said two officers received minor injuries.
