Police: Arlington woman attacked while jogging

Arlington County Police are advising joggers to buddy up after a 37-year-old woman was assaulted early Thursday while jogging alone in South Arlington.

The jogger was attacked shortly around 6:35 a.m. in the 2000 block of Army Navy Drive. Police said an unknown man knocked her to the ground and kicked her several times before “touching her in a sexual manner against her will.”

The woman was able to get away, and was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The man fled the scene after the incident and the case remains under investigation.

Police describe the suspect as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 5’10” to 6’ tall, with a medium build. The man was wearing a light blue button-down shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

Anyone with information about the incident can call 703-228-4242.
